Project Description
Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. provided the USMC Recruit Training base at Camp Pendleton with an upgraded Firing Line Communication System for the Edson Firing Ranges. This project included the design, installation, training and continued maintenance of a wireless communication system that covers all four (4) firing ranges at Edson Range. The scope of work included the following phases:
- Traced existing electrical and communication lines
- Designed and installed amplified sound systems for eighteen (18) firing lines and four (4) targeting pit lines
- Incorporated the radios provided by the Prime Contractor into each system
- Added Firing Line communications at the 25 yard lines of Wilcox and Horno Ranges’ existing systems on Camp Pendleton
This Communication system represents the first time in the history of Edson Range that cables for communications between the Firing Line NCO and the sound system were unnecessary as well as communicating with the Pit NCO. The use of ATC Planar Technology speakers to provide clear, understandable voice commands has been a noticeable difference to the instructors at Edson Range. With this system in place, the basic wireless communications network infrastructure has already been laid for Camp Pendleton. The firing range instructors will be able to take advantage of this infrastructure as they will be able to continue to provide clearer lines of communication between the instructor and the trainees as the use of robust wireless communications networks increase. |
